i love this country, the great united states of america. one thing that sets it apart from the rest of the world, and makes it a truly great place to live, is not just feeling but actually having the right to enjoy and practice freedom in its truest sense. lately, however, in an “effort” to spread this right of expression, we seem to be losing this very thing that is the pillar of strength to this nation. we accuse its enemies of hating this freedom of ours; while we, ourselves, are out to destroy its foundations.
the bills being put forth in the government to enforce bans on the rights of individuals and assemblies are only limiting and diminishing the civil liberties that are protected by our bill of rights. among numerous recent examples are: putting bans on same-sex marriages and flag burning; and a president openly accusing the press of harming national security.
everyone should have a right to express themselves, through speech or by action, so long as what they say or do, does not infringe upon the rights and properties of others.
these are dangerous times: it is scaring me how fast the mentality of our people has changed in recent times where it is now acceptable to lose our freedom, bit by bit.
